The study team hosted a series of public meetings and is working with agency representatives, local residents and businesses to involve stakeholders throughout the Environmental Assessment (EA) process.

  • Public Hearing and Review Period on Draft Environmental Assessment:

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) released the Draft Benning Road and Bridges Transportation Improvements Environmental Assessment (EA) for public review and comment between May 4, 2016 and June 2, 2016. A public hearing was held on May 19, 2016. The Draft EA document was prepared per the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and includes an assessment of all potential environmental impacts of the project.

Currently the project team is updating the EA to address public and agency comments, and anticipates releasing a revised EA Spring 2017.
